Tamiya's T-72 is supposed to be an M1 (or T-72A). However, the turret is a bit of a mixed bag, being closer to a T-72G/M than an M1. The Russians have both the T-72AV and T-72BV, with different ERA patterns, but you'd have to get a new turret, depending on how accurate you want to be...

Hi mikeli125!
T-72B have thicker front turret armor ("Super Dolly Parton" ) but the Tamiya's origin of Trumpeter's kit had the normal T-72A (or T-72M1 in export designation ) turret. Trumpeter just added the antiradiation covering. From this thing you'll can do the T-72AV modification vith the different ERA bricks placement (like the ones at T-80BV at the front turret they are placed at the angled shape).
Best regards
Lis
