Is there a good source for non-slip patterns for vehicles. I've a couple of kits that I'm going to start soon and would like to know what surfaces should have this surface treatment. The kits are LAV-A2, and the Leo STRV 122. I have other kits on the shelf that I'm researching as well (like the Canadian Leo 2 A6M).
Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Mark,
like all Leopard 2 tanks the Stridsvagn 122 has it's anti slip coat on the turret roof. On the hull and the additional front armour there are just anti slip patches attached to the surface (which are much too thick in the HobbyBoss kits expect the Leopard 2 A4).
It's pretty difficult do describe where on the turret roof the anti slip coat has to be added. Maybe this link is helpful to you? --> http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/roger_johansson/strv_122/
I'm sorry that i can't help you with the LAV-A2. I'm still getting into the LAV-/Stryker family...

Hey Mark,
maybe this can help you.
Leo's, Stryker and other "European" AFV have a more or less identical Anti-Slip surface applied, probably due to identical production machinery /equipment use by the different manufactures.
I take TAMIYA Grey Putty, dilute it with some turpentine till it matches "Mr. Surfacer" in it consistency.
Take a old/spare airbrush and spray it under higher pressure on to the surface from about 10 cm distance, it will "splatter" a bit but that is what you want till you build up the right strength you desire.
The real "trick" to achieving this "smoother" anti-slip comes with the final layer.
Dilute it a little more and the spray this for a further distance of about 25 - 30 cm over former. The putty will already start drying in the air a make a very fine and even top coat.
My very good experiences/results are only with Tamiya Putty so I don't know if the same resulst can be achieved using another Putty.
Here is a Danish Leo 2 I did a couple of years ago;
Hope this helps
Cheers

Thanks for the link Bernd. A great resource for sure!
Great image Christopher, that will help with my own line of Leos for sure! And thank you for the tips on method too. i've read so many different ones and it's good to see some results. Yours look great to me!
Super help. Now I've got my fingers crossed for the LAV. I've got the Canadian ones in my to be done collection.
