Hello everyone,
I am just curious if anyone knows of a manufacturer of civilian vehicles (cars) in 1/35 scale. I want to make a diorama with a burned out car. Any info will be appreciated. I know that I will probably end up scratchbuilding it anyway but I thought I would ask.

You can find some 1/32 stuff in snaptite. Being as you're burning it out, even something like a '32 hot rod might be usable for WWII. There are/were some '70-'80's era cars oout as well.

1/35 modern is a problem. I am currently using a 1/32 snaptite MONSTER truck as the basis for a 1/35 Ford F150. It is one big arse job to do all the work on this one...no interior, no frame, no windshiled... the list goes on. AND to make matters worse I decided that it was approx. 10% too big so I have "chopped and channeled" it to the correct size.
Soooo...if you are going to use some of the old 1/32 Mono and Revell kits out there remember they are too big by 10% which was about .6" on the F150. AAnd I was a bit to anal to let that difference slide- although I may regret it one day!
There is currently a 1/32 Fire Truck and 2000(ish) sedan police car available from Revell-Monogram. A lot of the other 1/32 stuff is hard to find!
I honestly think there is a market out there for 1/35 MODERN CIVILIAN vehicles. Look at Kosovo, Iraq or any of the other actual or potential hotspots and you see MODERN CIVILIAN VEHICLES! There are many dios just crying out for these vehicles. Just think of how many countries where bad guys in "technicals" have shown up! MAYBE we need to start writing the manufacturers!
I have a link (I'll dig it out and post it) for a 1/35 VW Golf Vacu-Form kit. Maybe that'll fill the bill for you!

thanks alot for the input! I was thinking modern( but I guess anything from 50's up would work, I intend to make it look destroyed anyway).
Again thanks for the responses!

hi, If you make burned out car it only has to be an old car, so a Mercedes or Volkswagen or Ford are good, try to smack the car a couple times against the wall and keep a few seconds a flame under it to give the effect of a burned car!!!!Maybe paint it??!!
Good luck

Take a look at 1/32nd slot cars....you know...the race cars we used to play with that went around the track...some of the older models would do quite well for what you want.

Hi Raycel and welcome to the Club !
You can add some Japanese 1/32 car kits makers like Arii, Aoshima and LS to those already mentioned. Just have a look at Hobby Link Japan website and go to the "1/32 passenger cars" web page : many japanese cars, trucks and buses from the 50s to the 90s (just remember that japanese cars have right-hand drive so you may have to do some scratchbuilding

)

Im sure ive seen a 1/35 volkswagon beetle. They were certainly used by the germans in ww2. I think ive seen it in africa korps colours. But as the beetle changed very little until recentley and in afghanistan they dont have the latest cars if you could find it you'd get away with using that. i'll keep my eyes open for one for you.

I have found some 1:36th (yes SIX, not five) scale vintage metal cars in the GROCERY STORE! I found a 1938 Ford truck, a 1934 Citroen, and a 1936 Dusenberg stretch limosine. They are die cast, but are easily disassembled and detailed.
I have also found some 1:34 scale Revell vintage cars from the 1910-1925 era that have been quite easy to build and detail. They are no longer in production, but i found mine in the recent SuperCon here in Dallas. i bought one of each for $5.00 each.
I also know that DESkits produces a Resin Citreon. i have the WWII-era Volkswagen but don't intend to use it for anything in particular. Be glad to sell if for what I paid if anyone is interested. Still on sprues, but the box has been opened.
