Is anyone making mud using matt medium and pigments? I was watching the Night Vision DVD and their resin looks a lot like the gel type of matt medium. I was wondering if you can use that along with pigments, sand and plaster to make mud.

Hello James,
You can make mud this way for sure. Acrylic resin, Pigments, also use satin or flat to give wet or dry apperance. Also, take a look at AK Interactive Mud Effects and Dust Effects. These are enamels and can simply be used straight from the bottle or mixed with plaster of paris for a thicker mud effect. Follow this link www.ak-interactive.blogspot.com/ and scrol down. You will find tutorials on creating dried mud and splashed mud from Mig Jimenez .

Oh yeah...any of the Liquitex acrylic gel mediums and a little pigment gives you gobs of cheap, great looking mud!
