They seems to have good prices and a very nice selection of AFV's and figures. Has anybody bought from them and how was the service? Also any other sites with good deals on models?

I personally have not bought from them, but I have heard a lot of good reports from guys who have. Their prices do look tempting, but we get caught for tax at the customs coming into Europe, so I would only use this system if stuck for something. But I know quite a few from sweden who purchase regularly from them!!

I have purchased many times from them and have always had good service. Sometimes they are a tad too slow.

Thanks for your information. Looks like I'll be building a 1/35 black hawk sometime in the next few weeks :-)

I have made several purchases from them. No real problems other than their relatively minor delays.

I've had good service from them. One good thing is you canb track the progress of your order til it gets shipped. The bad news is that in stock does not always mean in stock. You can get your stuff shipped sepearately if there's someti=hing on back order. I give them a thumbs up.

I've bought from them many times and have been to their now closed retail store. They have a brand new web page coming up later this year that is supposed to be a great improvement. All of their prices are discounted and they are now running a sale of some sort all of the time. You just have to check them out regualrly to see what goodies you can save on. I am on their weekly newletter also and they post the new stuff that is on the way and what they just received. What's in stock and what's not can be confusing, they are aware of the problem and have been working on it. I believe the new web page is supposed to take care of that problem once and for all. I give them two thumbs up!

Definetly - highly recomend. The price is almost allways lower, plenty of suppliers, alot of selection and like AJlafleche said you can track the progress of your order. (if it is alittle slow). They give you a little "wish list" shopping cart that isn't deleted when you leave the site.
Squadron is going to be more expensive, but they have alot in stock, like they advertise. It will get to you sooner. If you have the time you can save the money, if not you gotta pay.
I've ordered from both many times - can't go wrong

I've ordered from them dozens of times (yes, the closet is completely full of kits). Anyway, I've never had problems with them....

I have ordered from them for many years, through the good and the bad.
yup, they can be slow. IF you are in a hurry, squadron will make you happy.
They are definately trying to deal with their problems and while they may not always hit the mark, it is better than not trying at all.
Also, http://www.rollmodels.com is a good place to shop as well, similar prices, Trumpeter and Skif kits are cheaper...take a look.

While overall I would give Great Models a half-hearted thumbs up, primarily because of their prices, I was disappointed in their handling of my last order. I ordered several Dragon figure kits, all of which were listed as in-stock, as well as the old Tamiya StuG IV kit, also listed as in-stock. Despite their promise that in-stock items ship the next day, it took over ten days for my order to ship, and then it was not complete. Why? because one of the Dragon kits was now listed as out of stock and expected in several days, all the others were still listed as in stock on my order summary page. Then, the out of stock figure set arrived and suddenly my order ships with one of the other Dragon figure sets cancelled because it was now out of stock even though it had been shown throughout the process as in stock. I called their customer service and that person was clueless. I am glad to hear they are aware of the in-stock confusion and working on their problems.

I have used Great Models several times... the only problem I've had is that I thought I had canceled an item on backorder, but it got shipped anyway... don't know if if their fault, or my fault, but the shipping charge for the single item basically wiped on the savings on the sale price

Hi
I've been ordering from GreatModels for about 4 years. Their listing of items in stock is less and less accurate. They have problems with back orders, items disappear and reappear from the in stock list regularly, and there are other nagging problems. The prices are great, and if you contact someone on the phone, you get great help. If you really want something and are prepared to wait, GreatModels is fine.
As said earlier, Squadron only lists what they have in stock, and they are a bit pricier. Again, I've had great service from them. Michigan Discount Models, Hometown Hobbies, and lots more shops are good!
Cheers
Andy

This is the only place that i buy my models.
I dont know if they're slow or not, cos i always order UPS expedited.
And i receive veery quickly.
Highly suggested.
(I mean the store) , not the way to order :-)

I've placed several orders with them, and found them to be much slower then I liked. Of course everyone is slow when compared to Squadron who usually gets your order out the next day. These guys take at least a week to get your order out. But prices are right and I'm instate for Squadron so that means tax and they also hit me full shipping price for 10 miles down the road.

:-) I love Greatmodels and use them primarily for Tristar and Ironside stuff. They carry the whole lineup of Tristar figures and kits. I have, however, been waiting since July 29th for the Ironside Marder I and Tristar SPGun crew Vol.II. I have tracked my order and it still says "searching for" on the order status line. The customer service dept. is one of the best i have had the pleasure of dealing with. They are very friendly and actually return E-mails! I like Model Expo very much, great prices, limited inventory. Squadron is my very favorite..you pay just a bit more but the stuff is there and delivered within a few days. i have to be honest...i don't NEED the stuff i ordered from Great Models right away...I just want to get it into my grubby little fingers. Like most of the rest of you i have years of building waiting for me in my closet NOW! jEFF
