This thing takes up more space in my apartment than my cat does! As the days get shorter and another God-awful winter rolls in, the Leopold will be my big project.
Has anyone tackled the barrel yet? Looking for a good step by step instruction for seamless assembly.
Aside from being the focalpoint of the model, the barrel is a big piece- and not something I want to mess up
My skills are pretty good, but there is no alternative if I 'flub' the barrel. (Mess up a Panther G barrel, buy an Eduard, mess up a Leopold barrel- not a clue what to do )
Thanks !
Peter

Peter, I do not have the kit so I can't offer much help on it's barrel. I could however tell you that if you do mess up the kit's barrel, fear not, because Mission Models has a replacement Machined Aluminum Barrel for Dragon Leopold with Rifling. The price is almost the same as the whole kit though...

Yes it is a big one. Bigger than two of my Chihuahuas end to end. I built the assembly last night . Pretty straight forward just take your time. In step 8 it shows parts F44&F43 on the outside of parts F21&22. Not so. They go on the inside. Otherwise parts C8&9 won't reach to the other side. Test fit and you'll see. In step 11 the breech end of the barrel does not connect to the breech assembly. I can't think of what these parts are called ( D27&28 ) but this is where the barrel & breech assembly attach. Parts G24&25 are a very tight fit but will go in. The connecting arms C6 need to be squeezed in a little bit to glue the covers on C8&9 so no glue will go where it's not supposed to be. As far as the barrel itself I used some mini quick clamps to keep it all together and straight.

easy peasy- just use some Testors or similar slow evaporating liquid glue and then use masking tape to hold the two halfs together. Then use sandpaper to remove the mooshed out melted plastic along the seam. Use a primer after this and see if you may need to add some filler putty.
