Just spotted on the Airfix website that they are going to be releasing a 1/48 WMIK landrover as well as the Snatch already announced on here. Check the link:

Looks pretty interesting, if you look elsewhere on the site they are also releasing some 48th scale modern British figures from Iraq.

This has got me thinking about 1/48. Mind you, I struggle with dpm in 1/35 so 1/48 will be a nightmare.

Being a Land Rover fanatic, I'll take one in any scale! The Snatch and WMIK are two of my favourite versions, so I'm really looking forward to these being released. The figures are a welcome surprise as well. The Airfix website shows the various combinations these kits are to be released in--vehicles with figures, vehicles alone and even a vehicle, figures and Lynx helicopter all together in the same box! Too bad the kits that have paints included will not be available in the U.S. (at least Stevens says they will not carry them, but will carry the basic Land Rover and figure kits). Now we have something to put with the 1/48 HC1/HC2 Chinook kits! I just hope Airfix does a good job on these. Maybe they could enter these in the 1/35 field??

Alright Rob. I clocked these not long ago on the Airfix site. It's good to see they are in a twin set and If I'm honest £18 isn't bad either, They shouldn't be bad little models judging on what they have recently been doing.

I doubt they will be scaled up Airfix said the 35th scale is too demanding and they would have to produce at least 5-6 kits a quarter due to the competition and popularity and that for them now it didn't seem like the right thing to do or seem financially viable. They did say they might eventually return to the scale

Just saw that Land Rovers and the "gift sets" with multiple models, paints, etc. are listed on the Airfix-USA website for purchase here in the U.S.. Unfortunately, they are not listed for release until the fourth quarter of this year!! They can be pre-ordered on the site. At least they will be available; it's the waiting that will drive me nuts!!(It's not like I do not have anything else to work on in the mean time...)

Just heard from Hornby--Land Rovers, figures, etc. will not be released until October of this year. Do not know if this is for U.K. or for everywhere. Hope they will be worth the wait.
