Hi,I am in need of correct info.
Which T34 would best suit a dio for Kharkov 43?
Doesn't matter Tamiya or Dragon
I have Dragon 6205 mod 1941 and am looking at getting Dragon 6424 1942.

The Tamiya's 1974-vintage T-34 kits are well-molded, but are misproportioned and a bit over scale.
Dragon's Model 1941 T-34 is quite nice, but most of those would have been "used up," by early 1943. The hexagonal turret had started to appear in late 1942, though many books dub this version the Model 1943. I suspect the earlier, flat turret with the single hatch would have been more common at Kharkov, but your best bet is to look at photos from the campaign and choose a particular tank to model.
Dragon Kit 6424 has the early, rounded screen over the rear engine louvers, but all available photos show this version with the later, square-cornered style. If this bothers you, Aber and Eduard offer replacement brass parts.
Dragon's Model 1942 and later T-34-76 kits (with the later style driver's hatch), all have a problem with the glacis plate--the driver's hatch opening is way too far to the left (the right edge of the hinge should be even with the turret centerline). Since the plate is a separate part, this isn't a difficult fix--saw out the section with the hinge detail and mount if further right. Use sheet styrene to plug the gap on the left, and carve out the right edge of the hull opening (this only needs to be neat if you plan to open the hatch).
Dragon also reuses the Model 1941 hull parts, including the molded-on fenders, which have numerous bolts and projections for the Model 1941 tool boxes and track stowage. Unfortunately, those are in different positions on later models, so these projections have to be removed and sanded down (fiddly, because the fenders are narrow, and the edge details must be preserved). Alternatively, the whole fender can be replaced with sheet styrene or Aber brass parts.
AFV Club has issued some impressive early T-34 kits, which could be considered. These come with soft plastic track, but AFV sells workable link to link track separately.

I'd suggest Dragon's kit 6479, the late Factory 112 variant. It needs the detail fixes I mentioned above for the glacis and fenders, but otherwise, is a very good kit.

I got the book and it shows MANY double hatched turret T34/76's were used.
Also a pic of a 1941 model.Pics of single hatch T34's with no commander couplas.
it says the Russian used any and all available armor.LOL
Pics of T-70's and of a BT-5
So 6424 and 6479 would be both excellent choices.
Gerald where did you get your info about hatch hinges being off to far to one side?I found a picture of the sinlge hatch being exactly like kit 6479 from the book. The tank was in the tractor factory waiting for repairs. This picture also show MANY double hatched turrets.
