Here is a question for our Aussie friends.
I have a Bronco 17pdr on its way that i intend to build as an example used by 3RAR in Korea.
I have found several photos of the guns in action, however I would like to model the gun under tow, however I could not find any reference to what vehicle would have been used in this period.
Anyone know for certain ?
Thanks

I'm not from Down Under , but I can say that GMC CCKW 353s were used to do the job in Korea :

i'm no expert "EX a known quantity. SPURT a drip under pressure" hehe but i could put money on it being either a long wheel based CMP cab13 30cwt "GS" or an gun tractor that was used to pull the bofors gun it too being a cmp 30cwt but with a different rear body. but from the pics it could be possable that the jimmy was borrowed or from late war. cheers

Jason,
Actually, I'd bet the CCKWs were used as a proper part of the War Establishement even if the CMPs were used in Australia. All of Canada's automotive equipment was exchanged for American equivalents prior to our units going into battle in order to simplify the supply chain. Our Archers were exchanged for M4A3E8s. Our 25 pdrs were towed by CCKWs even though we were still using CMPs in Canada.
Your lot's CMPs may heve been left behind as well. Just a thought.

Frenchy does it again !
I think you just knows the places to look where Google does not go. Thanks
Those photos defiantly confirm that the CCKW 353 were used by 3RAR as the tow. Of interest are the markings, the trucks all carry the commonwealth roundel vs the 5 pointed star, so these were not simply borrowed from the US army, but rather issued as replacements to the unit.
So it looks like I need to source some suitable decals to letter a Tamiya 353.
Thanks everyone for the help
