Gday

I am working on a M577a1and have two main questions.
1.Where can i find interior kit for it?
2.There is a curved pipe on top of the roof ,what is that for?

Cheers

Not sure about the interior kit, but the curved piece and the rope is used to winch the generator from it's cradle to the ground.

In the top pic you can see the troops in action.

No interior kit that I know of. There was a Terre Models interior but it was for a German communications rig.

There are some good interior pictures on Prime Portal if you want to scratch the interior starting with the interior from a standard Tamiya or Academy M113 but there are some differences with the floor plates since the commander's platform post is right next to the rear engine access panel.

As Paul says, the ebst way is to add the Academy interior and modify it accordingly. I did one a couple years agoo with a full interior just as Paul describes. You can check it out in-progress here, and done here.

Good luck with it and let us know if you need any pointers.

Ahhhh...the hotel on tracks....As previously stated there is the German comminications interior. I think there is one of them up on ebay right now. It also has an entire engine compartment.

IMO....your best bet is to follow Gino's suggestion, or forget the interior and build it with the extension off the rear. If you want to fill it with field tables chairs, maps, grease pen boards, etc.

Rounds Complete!!

I believe there's one just near the driver's hatch (on the right in the Primeportal picture below) :

No, that is the cover for the external halon fire extinguisher pull handle. On M577A1 and A2 models the slave cable comes out of the generator side (there is a circular cutout on the front of the tray for it, see below) and had to be fed through the driver's hatch to the slave cable receptacle on the driver's fuse panel below the instrument panel. There was no external slave cable connection.

You can see the hole here and now can see the Halon pull handle in red.

Depending on what type of radios that the Iranian's used, Verlinden makes some nice radio sets. They have both NATO/US and Warsaw Pact styles.

I know the abandoned T-59 we captured had US antenna matching units and a standard US 12-series radio (A/N VRC-64?). Same radio that was in our wingmans' tanks. We took it.

Hi Gino
In fact I was talking about this :

...on the LEFT of the picture of course !! (It seems I have a problem with left and right - in English at least ) Looks like a NATO receptacle to me....But I may be wrong (again )...

Technically you are correct Frenchy. The slave cable receptical is to the right of the driver's hatch. Gino was so busy trying to sharp shoot you I am sure he just forgot that left and right on a vehicle are determined by the drivers position facing to the front. I mean that is what he ment. Here it is enlarged and outlined.

Guys guys

You lost me about the conection,it was inside or out side?
Iraninans used American radio system,PRC77 and that family.
The Verlinden's set is perfect for me.

I guess it was supposed to be on the outside from the factory. On the M577s I have been on I guess the extenal mount didn't work or wasn't there. They all fed through the driver's hatch.

No, I wasn't sharpshooting Gary, I mean "Tony". I will leave that up to you as usual.

I want to shoot myself in the head.
I bought an A.E.F m577 conversion set.
It was one of the worst things that i did in my life.
Its quality is that bad that i do not want to put it on eBay.
I cannot believe someone make such a bad quality thing.

G'day Ashkan,
I have a couple of photo's of the ex Iranian M577 sitting in the tank grave yard in Taji Iraq. But I have no idea where they are at the moment. Sorry.
If there are any site members who know of someone at Taji, they might be able to help.

Jason

PS still looking for the photos.
