i'm about to buy the detail set for my panther A late type but i noticed eduard only made it for the a early type. would there be any difference in the parts?? if so please tell me, or tell me another brand that would have a detail set for Dragons Panther A late type.

You should be able to use at least part of the early A detail set for the late Panther A - I have the early etch set, but not the late A kit. I know that the fittings and such will work, but I'm not sure about the grill screens.
Hope that helps-

yeah, i didn't think the grill screens were gonna work. i might just have to buy the late type grill screens, or make my own.

I'm having the same problem you are tracking down all of the "stuff" to make these Dragon Panthers.... I really prefer Aber etch, but they havn't come out with a set yet. I bought the Cavalier Zim set before I realized that it couln't be used with the Eary A that I have - oh well.... I guess I've learned alot about the differences between the early and late A's

ive got both kits the late A and early A the only difference is an extra sprue on the late A
you could try the Eduard web site and look at the instrution sheet for the set to see if the parts can cross over http://www.eduard.com/

Caveman-
Since you have both kits - I was wondering if you could tell me if the engine deck screens are the same size? I'm assuming they are, especially if the only difference in the two kits is an extra sprue (with hull machine gun parts I assume). If the hull and deck are the same in both kits - the early A detail set will work for both versions.
Thanks-
Jeff

yeah there the same size
the extra sprue has the new glssius plate, a monoquler gun mantlet, exausts and a few other bits
you could have a look on the instruction sheet of the Early a PE sheet http://www.eduard.com/./products/card.php?id_product=2352&name=panther&catalogue_nb=&type=&pgroup=2&scale=4&product_month=&product_year=&page_start=5 or wait for the late a

I would stick with the same brand at least. Each kit has minor (some major) dimensional differences. Tamiya, Dragon, and Italeri Panther hulls are all a little different dimensionally. The Dragon A's use the same hull, so the set for Dragon should work for either - but I wouldn't expect an etch set designed for ... say Tamiya ... to fit the Dragon kits.

I guess that is the crux of this whole matter..... I say NO, the etch set for the Dragon eary will indeed work for the late A. Of course, I don't know for sure since I don't have the late A kit. If you do end up buying the etch set made for the early and using it on your late - let me know how it works out.
