Hey guys!
I've been gone for far too long due to family things and school taking a toll on me, but I'm getting back into modeling and I have a pretty cool idea (at least, I think so lol) for a new dio, but I'm having some trouble.
I'm thinking of doing a "D Day" parachute landing in Normandy and I'm on the hunt for a 1/35 scale C 47 Skytrain but I haven't been able to find one that's actually been released yet. Am I missing something? Surely there's a kit out there in this scale, right? Any help would be appreciated!

..dont think so Brandi, there might be an old 1/32 Monogram kit out there somewhere. I've never seen it but there's nothing in 1/35 yet anyway

Master Box has proposed a DC - 3 / Dakota , a glider and JU 52 all with paratroops in 1/35 scale ( also some type of Soviet torpedo boat ).Nothing concrete as of yet .Been on their forth coming list for a year now ? Keeping my fingers crossed , although where I 'm gonna find space for one is another story

Thanks for the replies, guys. I knew about Masterbox, but of course, it's not released yet. I am a bit surprised that there isn't a 1/35 scale skytrain, considering the heavy use it saw on DDay. Ah well.
I think i'm going to do a different play on the landing, maybe the day after where troops are walking by to see a para trooper got caught in a tree (only mildly inspired by the Band of Brothers series), but I haven't quite decided...it's a toss up between that and the actual landing, maybe a guy or two looking as though they may land near a german gun placement or something. Any thoughts?

John,
I'm considering this, but we'll see if I can actually settle on something.

Frankly, I'll be very surprised if the kit ever appears. It would be expensive to tool, and very expensive to buy. Masterbox tends to release lots of figure kits, but their announced vehicle kits have been delayed endlessly, so I suspect they are not all that well capitalized. The wingspan of a 1/35th scale C-47 would be 32.74 inches, and how many modelers have that kind of display space?

There's some 1/48 figures on the quarter-kit.com website like these that might be of use if you don't want to use the Tamiya GI set.
Go to GASOLINE figures to search
Nice idea for a dio

Italeri made both a 1/48 and 1/72 C-47, not sure if they are still available...

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the helpful replies! I've actually scrapped the idea for now, and I'm sure it will become a side project. I've settled on something quite a big bigger and will create a build blog and blogspot for it once I get it off the ground.

Quite a bit bigger? Come on, you can't tease us like that, then not explain any further!

Hi Brandi,
If I was considering making a C-47 what do you think is a reasonable price for this? And are there more out there how are willing to buy this kit?
Cheers,
Marco

Hi Marco,
I think a reasonable price would be anywhere from 80-120 for a quality kit, for sure. I would definitely pay that for a good kit!

Hey Brandie, another way to go is forced perspective. Use a 1/48th or 1/72nd planes held up in the back with a clear acrylic rod and 1/35th scale figures on the ground. Maybe even a paratrooper coming down with the chute hidding the support rod. Dam, now ya got me thinking again...

Ah, now I know I can stop searching. I've been searching for ages, hoping to find a C-47 in 1/35 scale. Thanks for the info!
