I applied MIG rain marks to a matt finished model and now it looks like Hard water spots/Dots.
My question is how can I correct this to get the effect of rain streaks?
Thanks for the help.

Some pics would be useful. What kind of matt surface was it? If it's acrylic you can just reset the whole thing with turpentine and retry.
I too own a bottle of rain marks from MIG but did not have the chance to use it yet.
P.A.

Hello.
I am sorry to see what happened in your model.
That product was developed and designed after I leave Mig productions, and it was not under my control, but I must say that that product is not a good solution and I don't agree with it.
Maybe you can try to remove it with a make-up sponge with a little alcohol mixed with water (50%)....but very soft...slowly. maybe you can remove something.
In another hand, I recomend you the solution that I made reciently for the rainmarks, easy to control, and these problems never happen:
And here the whole article:

I hope it can help you.

PS: One more time, i feel sad that my name is involved in a product that don't offer the best solution, specially when it was not made by me. Sorry.

Hey John,
well, if the rainmarks are oil- or enamel based, some whitespirits would propably do... if they're acrylic stick to mig's suggestion.
apart of that, excuse the stupid question but did you try streaking the rainmarks? please don't get me wrong here, but it looks like you've just painted on dots and waited for these to fade themselves...
as with most streaking and washing effects such as rainmarks, they have to be touched up with a brush moistened with thinners to fade 'em 'till they look right...
cheers, Max

Hey Max, i applied the rain marks straight from the bottle. As i did this I noticed that the solution did not want to run down. This was my first try with the product. I'll get it thinned down and lightened somehow.
Now are the rules for using Mig rust and oil / grease?
Thank you
L8tr

Hey John,
thinning and streaking seem sound to me. as for the other effects, I haven't yet come around trying 'em out myself but as far as the rust streaks go I suggest doing it the same way mentioned above, apply small dots or thin streaks and then fade 'em vertically using a small brush moistened with thinners...
oil and grease should be applied in a different fashion, these usually gather around moveable parts that have had contact with that lubricant... try painting small dots with, let's say a #0 brush around the areas that should be greasy first, then paint on some random dots over every surface the oil/fuel/whatever could have spilled to...
you might also want to check here for more insight on how to work with washings and the like...
fuel lines looking good btw.
Cheers, Max

John, I agree with Max with what he say about "rules" for the other effects!!
BTW, John, Let me clarify again that I have not relactionship with my Ex-company Mig productions any more. I have leave my company 2 years ago. And in fact, the pipes never was made by me.
But I must say that the look is great and I really would like to see that T62 painted. I started also a T62, but I got crazy with the PE and fenders, so, I am going slowly. I should to buy a set of these pipes from my excompany for my T62.....

mig rain marks work the best on totaly flat paint,if you put it over paint that has a bit of a sheen you will get a bead affect, thats what i think happened to you,its more of a water base product
