hi, of course there could be an anti aircraft gun or 50 cal. You realy like the 101st airborne, don't you? wel look at my image under my signature!!! Back to your question, look Band of Brothers part 1 Curahee a couple of times and you will find out what they use!!!

I think the english use a bofor aa gun
you can see that when the planes take of I think thats better then a .50
since thats an american weapon really.
maybe a mounted bren gun?

Hey, laurie is right on th efirst (or the seccond) episode Easy comp. passes an AA emplacement before they enter their C 47.....so that 'll do i gues.....

AA defence on US airfields was usually the responsibility of the British army, therefore it would be normal to have emplaced bofors guns as in Band of Brothers. .50 Cal emplacements would also be present as well. I don't think there would be any hard and fast rule on this so you could more or less put in what you wanted.... Jim

by 1944 numerous AA defences were used by on british airfields,
40mm bofors and z batteries ( rockets ) around the outside of the airfield,
some .50s around the interior,
but you must remember by this time with allied air superiority AA defences had been rather scaled down compared to the heights of the battle of britain etc
and by then the 3.7inch AA gun was in service and this was one of the best AA guns of the war, better than the 88 in almost every respect.
