Hi,
I am in the process of completing this kit and would need your input.
Can anyone please indicate why the colour of the inner rim of the roadwheels is in a different colour then the rest of the wheel?
I would appreciate your help on this.
Very Best Regards
Johan

Johan,
judging from ym experience with M109s I would say it is sand, stones and water that gets in there when going cross (or rather through) contry and then with the turning of the wheels it just grinds off the paint. Maybe someone else has another explanation?
Cheers!

I'd go with what Stephan says. In my 27+ years in the armor field, sometimes the paint wears off of the road wheels because of cross country movement and constant trips to the washrack to get rid of the mud before parking in the motor pool.

Yes this is correct, a brand new wheel is all green then stones and sand grinds the paint away and leave the aluminum bare.

Thank you for taking interest and for your replies.
I think it Kjell sums it up.
The Academy kit has a strange angle on this, the road wheels are 2 part assemblies which could have allowed for this to be done easily but they have the wrong end of the stick.
Very Best Regards
Johan
