Hi guys,

Does anybody have the "Chaffe" of Italeri ?
I'd like to know, if the bottom hull is "three pieces" (like DML's Stug III, for exemple, or some Russian products) ?
Or one piece ?

Thanx from now

I answered this in Tank Talk for you, but it is a 3-sided tub where all you do is add the back plate to complete the lower hull.

Seen that Rob :-) and i re-answered u too.
But, meanwhile i've been at italeri's homepage and seen the photos of the model also,
nope..this new one is one piece.

But again, there are two side pieces (like mud guards) i dont know how do u call'em).
That means :"won't be done" (MHO) :-)

Thanx again

I haven't seen the sprue shots, so I don't know what changed other than the tracks. I'm 99% sure that they have changed the post war chevron rubber tracks with correct metal ones. I don't know if this means that they will change piece number A49 which is a two-section block of spare track links.

When I built the Chaffee way back in the late 80s, I don't recall having any problems with the two fenders that attach to the hull sides. The back plate of the hull has the supports integrated into piece to assist in properly aligning the fenders (what you called 'mud guards').

I can send you a scan of the instruction page that deals with this assembly if it will help you. The original Chaffee kit is a pretty good kit that was made around the same time as their superb Leopard 1A4 and M-47 Patton tanks. The only real complaint I've seen on the old Chaffee is that is represents a post war variant and not a WW2 one.

Ditto what Rob said. My M24 Chaffee is/was/I dunno in the Gallery here. The fenders are easy to fit to the Italeri hull. You shouldn't have any problems there. The basic kit is a joy to build throughout...

If I remember correctly it was a real pain to add the kit tracks on after the fenders were glued on Way back when it was first released 1987? I built that kit After the fenders were put on and the kit painted,I couldn't fit the tracks on
I had to prt the fenders off,put the tracks on,then reglue the fenders on For some reason the clearence on the fendres and tracks are very tight

Hehe..i can guess that !
But as it can be easily seen at Italeri's homepage, it looks very different this time, i mean the new mold.
After i received instructions page from Rob, i decided to buy this new one, and i guess i will make it.
Well, wait for my news then, to see if it's horrible or not

Happy modellings to all
