I am currently working on a vignette representing my grandfather in action on which he was awarded with a golden medal for bravery as a soldier of 1.mountain motorized artillery company, part of 2. oversea brigade of yugoslavian national liberational army. This brigade was sent from italian port of Bari to then alredy liberated coastal town of Dubrovnik. From there on, they fought their way through the territory of today´s Bosnia&Herzegovina where they fought against the German army, the SS, the Chetniks as well as Ustasha. As I mentioned before I will try to depict the moment of the action they were on. Their unit was cut off the rest of the division, and there was no communication as well. That˙s why the commander of company gave the command to use the jeep and drive trough the enemy lines to establish communication with the rest of the 29.division. My grandfather volunteered and took a jeep, but because he didn˙t know how to drive it, he needed a driver as well. Because the lack of the volunteers, he just had to choose one of his comrades. But because the poor lad he picked, was so afraid of the mission, he had to force him with his gun.
The mission took part in the first days of april 1944, near Bihać (present Bosna&Herzegovina) and was a complete success.
For the model I˙ve used Tamiya 35015 U.S.JEEP WILLYS MB with addition of Eduard and PlusModel PE and resin parts with few parts made from scratch. The figures are mixed miniart and scratch with hornet heads.

A really good start Jero!
I look forwards to more progress, and for you to shed any more light on the actions of this theatre of war?
Good stuff

nice work on the jeep, and good story. Desperate times for "volunteers"...
Just one comment on the driver, his arms seem to be sticking out a bit too much. Wouldn't they be closer to the body? I'm just sitting here, holding my arms as if I was sitting in a Jeep...
Cheers!

thank you for the comments.
Stephan: I am planning to represent the moment they drove over a jump, where the driver would lean forward and had to hold that wheel very strongly not to fall out of the jeep.

I like a lot the build but aside from that, I'm very intersted in the fact that your dio is going to tell a "family history"
I hope to see more progress soon
Cheers and congrats indeed

I guessed that was your intention by the way the passenger (your Grandfather?) is hanging on for dear life. From your description I thought he was going to be sitting there with a gun pointed at the driver. Must admit for a couple of blokes on a risky mission they look like they are having a lot of fun.
Look forward to seeing more.
Cheers, John
