Sherman's were standard until early 1945 when they started to be replaced by the Comet.

Not at all stupid; the British used the Sherman in 2 of the 3 AD (Excepting the unique 79 AD) and three Armoured Brigades. All were present in Holland:
Guards Armd: Mainly the Sherman V & Vc Firefly (M4A4) with a lot of 1c Composite Fireflies by this stage. Cromwells in the Recce Regt (Welsh Guards white 45 over Green and blue square split horizontally green upper
White Ever open Eye on Blue Shield trimmed in Red
HQ 5 Gds AB - White 50 on Red Square
2nd Armd BN Gren Gds - White 51 Red Sqn Markings
1st Armd BN Coldstream Gds - White 52 Yellow Sqn Markings
2nd Armd BN Irish Gds - White 53 Blue Sqn Markings
11 AD - Mainly Sherman V with Vc and 1c. Cromwells and Challengers in the Recce Regt (15/19 Kings Royal Hussars)
Black and red Bull on Yellow rectangle
HQ 29 AB - White 50
23 Hussars - White 51 - Red
3 RTR - White 52 - Yellow
2nd Fife and Forfar - White 53 - Blue
4th Armd Bde - Mainly M4A1 Sherman II with 1c and Vc Fireflies

BDE HQ - White 121 on red Sq
Royal Scots Greys - 122 - Red
3/4 CLY - 123 - Yellow

1 Northhamptonshire Yeomanry - 152 - Red
East Riding Yeomanry - 153 - Yellow
144 RAC - 154- Blue
These all fought in Holland but by late 44 the Numbering for the AB changed to reflect that of the DIV AB (50,51,52,53) although it is uncertain when the actual change on the vehicles occured. All the above Regts also had M3, M3A3 and M5 Stuarts on strenght in the recce tps

Towards the end of 44 11 AD were handing in their Shermans and had started training on Comets but swapped back during the panic of the Bulge. They switched back in Early 45.
