How would I go about making the remains of cornstalks that have had the corn harvested from them in the fall. The short stubs, and the occasional ones that get pressed into the ground.
Thanks!

I think a round toothpic cut and then painted might work.If it you think its a bit large for scale, clamp it in the end of a dremel and run it between a piece of sand paper... Then stick the pointy end into the base?? What do you think? .

What you might want to try is to take a thin piece of tissue paper or parchment paper. Cut it to the right height and then about 2" long or so. Apply a thin layer of white glue and water to one side. Then roll it up tight glue side in. Then once its dry take an old pair of scissors and cut it short. For the long bent over ones, simply bend them over. I think the many layers will act like the real plant and the thin paper will resembe the membranes of the stalk. Rough/dull scissors should represent the thrasher cutting it off.
Paint it in dark yellows browns and a bit of black here and there.

Thanks guys, both are good ideas! I will try both of them out. I have this idea about a tank going next to a corn field. Problem is, did they have the corn fields in Russia?

i once tried a similar dio, i used the bristles from an emulsion brush.
they were a perfect size and colour so i didnt need to paint them.
the effect was convincing and cheap.
£2.50 for two brushes from my local hardware store.
cheers
