Hi All,
Since several months I am searching if the SdKfz 251 in Ausf. C was even used by the DAK while the western desert campaign (not the Tunisian one!).
I am looking for some photos as model basic and even for evidence, because most of the for me known photos only shows Ausf. B.
Probably due to my limited internet skillness I have actually found only this ones, which shows definately the Lybian desert as background.
While searching for some pictures for my „Desert fox“ Campaign project about an Italian M13/40 Carro comando, I found this picture, which is totally new for me:
from this site: http://www.fcpozzi.com/fusco/La_mia_guerra_40-43.htm
Note: According the homepage, this photo must be made definately before 2nd El Alamein, because the Italian soldier, whose story is told on this site, has left Lybia at this time.
Does anybody knows more about this specific vehicle (Unit ?)
Has someone more pic. of a SdKfz 251 in Ausf. C with the DAK ?
Thanks in advance
Erich

Here's another "C" (I think....) picture dated 1942, showing one side by side with Rommel's SdKfz. 250/3 command vehicle 'Greif' :

Hi Frenchy,
Thanks for your pic and yes, the last one is a Ausf. C.
Especially this one will give a wonderfull model base.
Has anyone an idea which unit sign is shown on the enginge side deck ?
Thanks
Erich

Eric;
I believe that is the unit marking for the Afrika Division or after November 1941 the 90.leight Afrika Division. I will double check my references, but I am pretty sure that is what it signifies.

Sorry Eric; I should have checked first. I have seen the symbol somewhere but at this point I can not find the source. It is similiar to one version of the 164th leichte Div. unit symbol, The question is whether the symbol is correct as it is different than the one most prevalent. The version I found on one site showed the contintent of Africa with what appears to be a larger lightening bolt?

Another one :
The Africa map emblem is still a mystery to me
Talking about German unit markings, here's a useful website :

First of all
thanks for the feedback, gives me much more possible model ideas as I have expected and will stress me for the next years....
@Ralph,
I am even sure to have seen this "African" unit sign, but cannot remember where and in which context.
I suppose "Alzheimer" starts meeting my brain.....
