Hi all,

I have build Zvezda's SU-100 (#3531). I understand that there are better models to build an SU-100, but for me this was a nice build. I'm still a novice, so these kits are excellent for me. I did a little bit of detailling on the kit and I experimented a lot. I had to do the painting three times all over again, not every experiment was succesfull...

I replaced the kits tracks by tracks from AFV-Club. The figure is from Verlinden.

Greetings,

Max

Looks good, especially for such an old kit. I couldn't help but think of the Addams Family's "Thing" when I saw the hand reaching for the hatch...

Anyway, there seem to be some steps in the barrel, is that just the photo resolution or is it really on the model? I really like the face of the figure, looks very convincing. Also the paint job and weathering on the SU look excellent!

Cheers!

Good work. It's sometimes good to build these old kits- you can learn a lot from it

It turned out to be a nice one eventually (considering the three attempts to color that beast)! Well done, my congrats. I especially like your work on the figure. Looks really good.

Thanks for the compliment and LOL... I tried to add a nice detail that triggers the imagination. I guess your imagination was triggered quite well!

Thanks for the compliment about the figure. I like painting these old Verlinden figures, but scalewise they don't always match up that well with figures from other brands.

The barrel has a smaller diameter at the muzzle than at the mantlet. This is the way it is designed in the kit. I checked it with a replacement barrel from Jordi Rubio that I've got, and it is the same with that barrel. If you detect real "steps"/irregularities, then that's probably because of my bad sanding.

Thanks Pat. I have a fair amount of "vintage kits" that I'm slugging my way through, so that I can gain experience and experiment with techniques. After I've completed these kits, I can start with the newer kits in my stash. That should be a pleasure then!

Thanks! I've been at the verge of throwing this kit away two times, but I couldn't bring myself to it... In the end I'm quite happy with the endresult, so I'm glad I didn't get rid of this beast. And to look at it from the bright side: I had three times the fun of painting this kit, while I paid for it only once!

Greetings,

Max
