Can I use thinned acrylic or enamel as a substitute for Mig and AK washes?

Yeah you can but I would recommend experimenting on some scrap model to get it right- doing it yourself means the mix can be unpredictable but with enamels (or oils) the drying time is much slower and there is more time for correction.

Enamels or oils work better since they don't dry as fast. I have a number that I've made that I use for different effects. Browns, greens, tans, etc. Just keep them well shaken when you're using them, as they separate faster than the AK/MIG type products.

I usually use MM enamels as a wash followed by Tamiya acrylics as filters. Thanks for the responses. I have a couple of scrap models to practice on.
