I have always liked Allied halftracks of WWII. I just think they are rugged looking. Anyway, I've always wanted a large scale version. I'm thinking of attempting a rather large version of the M3 halftrack. Maybe around 1/10th or 1/12 scale. Haven't decided that yet. I am beginning to collect my references. I don't think this will be a super tough project to attempt. Not a lot of curves and fancy stuff to replicate. The rear suspension looks like it can be done by an inexperienced scratchbuilder. The tracks have me a little concerned. I'll deal with that later. Front tires may be a challenge, though.
I can handle working brass and plastics. I'm not sure which media would be best utilized in this project. I guess I'll have to do a little experimentation along the way. Just thought I'd tip you all off, may be a long work in progress as I've got to finish my 86" span A26 Invader first. Hopefully that will be complete around middle of July.

Don,
I think you're right. Wheels and tracks will be the toughtest challenge. Rest should be ok.
Before deciding on a specific scale, I'd suggest you look around if there's no wheels / tires in large (small) scales that may give you a jump start, and adapt the scale of your model to those wheels. Tracks and track wheels are not too hard to achieve : if you make one, you can multiply them in resin.
Good luck

Jan, Thanks for the advice. I noticed that my son's G.I.Joe Jeep has some rather large military style tires. Have not measured them to see how they would matchup scale wise to the M3. I may get lucky!
