What would be the best starting point to build an accurate Korean War NKPA T-34-85 ?
I understand from Zaloga's book T-34-85 vs M26 Pershing that the NKPA tanks came from the 1945/1946 production of plants 112 , 174 and 183
so what are my options for a kit in 1/35 ?
I usually model US / British armor so I have little clue about Soviet tanks !
Thanks
Ian

Factory 183: Dragon, Factory 174: AFV Club. There were a couple of different turrets seen on 112 vehicles, including the low bustle type with separate mushroom ventilators, as offered by Maquette/RPM (it's a very rough kit, though).

Looking on line, I find that there have been several release of the T-34-85 by Dragon. Any recommendations to which one to use.
Thanks

The original 1944 production model had rounded front mudguards and a smaller cupola with a two-piece hatch.
The late 1944 and 1945 models had squared-off front mudguards and a large, one-piece commander's hatch--this is the variant seen postwar in Korea. The late-model tank kit has been released most recently with the "bedspring" standoff armor seen in Berlin, though you won't need these parts for Korea. Box labels to the contrary, all of Dragon's T-34-85 kits have depicted the Factory 183 variant with its distinctive "flattened" turret. The Dragon Premium Edition kits include photoetched parts and Magic Track, which is easier to assemble than their original link to link tracks (AFV Club also makes excellent workable T-34 tracks).
