Hello all, I need a few questions answered regarding the Tiger I. I recently purchased the cyber-hobby/DML Tiger I mid command version #6660 and I would like to make it a non command version. I don't have a specific Tiger in mind I would like to do, but I'm guessing it would be easiest if I stuck to one that was manufactured in the winter of '43, am I correct?

If anybody could tell me what changes will have to be made, which parts to use, not use, in order to do a correct non command mid version Tiger I would greatly appreciate it. I know obviously I shouldn't be using all the antenna's, and the stowage tube, and that I'll have to move some stuff on the rear hull plate, and I'll also need a different mantlet, is there anything else?

I'm also wondering if there are some example's of mid Tiger's without Zimmerit. I'm sure I read somewhere there are, but they are few and far between. Would I be able to correctly model one of those rare Zimm'less mid's with this kit?

Thanks in advance for any, and all help!

Mid Tigers without Zimmerit were built in August 1943. I don't recommend backdating this kit because you'd need many parts from an Early Tiger; S-mines, toolbox, Feifel system, pistol port, track cable, 15-ton jack, and more.

I believe Dragon provide the Feifel air filter cans as a help should you wish to follow this route; are they in your kit? (G sprue)

Converting to a standard Tiger is easier. Get a mantlet with an MG hole, delete the turret roof antenna, use the loader's periscope, omit the antenna mounts on the left hull, mount only a standard antenna on the left hull, omit the slanted tube on the rear plate, move the rear C-hook to the standard location,

David

Thanks for replying David, I was secretly hoping I would get a response from you. I've used your site many a time for help, and I would like to say first off thank you for all your contributions to the modeling community.

And to answer your question yes the cans for the Feifel system are on the G sprue, but none of the duct's are provided. I think I see what are the S-mine launchers on the G sprue as well.

So to convert to a standard mid which mantlet would I use. I see two that have reinforced binocular sights. One with a thinner reinforcement "behind" the raised binoc reinforcement (part 19 on the G sprue), the other has the thinner reinforcement in addition to the raised binoc reinforcement, (part 11 on the D sprue, from the Tiger late kit)

Also did any regular mid's have the gun stowage lock, or was this a feature limited to the command varients?

Sorry I'm sure these are mundane questions you answer all the time, but thanks for helping a noob out!

Oh and real quick while I have your "ear" are there any general corrections/inaccuracies on this kit like on the other previous DML Tigers?
