CMK is releasing the M19 Twin 40mm GMC!!! :-) :-) I've been waiting for this kit far as long as I can remember.
I know it's all resin but hey, there's a first for time for everything...right?!? I should probably start saving my money now. No specific release date, just 2002.
Does anyone have any experience with CMK models?

Yes, I have several of their resin vehicle engine sets (M151 and M998) and a couple of their metal barrel/resin mantlet sets. Very nice detail sets and well worth the money. I also have a Bergepanzer based on the Tamiya PzKfw IV chassis. It is basically the chassis kit with white metal and resin detail and injection molded plastic conversion sets to make the change. I have a feeling that the M19 might be based on someone's (Italeri's) M-24 chassis and their own conversion/detail parts. Just conjecture on my part.Does anyone have any experience with CMK models?
The Bergepanzer IV I have has nice PE fret and white metal parts. The resins parts are OK (I've seen better) and the injection plastic parts look terrible (9 done in typical short run molded shiny gray plastic that looks hard and brittle).

19K---knowing what they charged in the past, you better save a great of money to get this one. I'll spit ball a figure, but if you get that one for less than $80 I'd consider it a bargain. What do you think?

Ken - I remember mentioning this release to you a while ago and you didn't like the anticipated retail price of this kit. CMK items are not cheap!

I do recall someone mentioning it to me Gunnie...you! My memorie is like a sciv. I found the artist's rendition on their site and said that's it. I know their prices are high...but hey, if I start saving now I'll be able to afford one in sometime in the next year.

Heh heh - I've got my piggy bank stuffed for this one too. I remember VLS Corp listing it at $130. Even with a 25% discount - that's still a lot for the model kit. Oh well, I really want one too

Gota just love SP ADA!!!! Have a soft spot for them, must be from too many years at Ft. Bliss (1419 Pike Rd, across from the elementary school) and dad being ADA.
m1grand has a picture of the one at the IPMS Seattle show in March. And I shamelessly will plug the close-ups I have at http://photos.yahoo.com/puyallup7400 in the IPMS Seattle (like there are choices) folder.
Next you値l have to do a twin 40mm tub on the M-548 chassis.
Keep saving that milk money.

As of today, Greatmodels is taking pre-orders. The price is $95.65.
Hmmm, more decisions, because I was going to go nuts with AM kits for the DW. Royal Models now has an engine and compartment set for the DW...$25 and the super detail set for another $44.

Ken,
I would venture to say it's not a CMK. I don't remember reading the entry form. I don't remember reading lots of things these days.
It's probably a M42 tub in a modified M24 chassis.
Maybe m1grarand remembers something.
Choices will kill ya. Go for both the M19 and the DW AM parts. Take up mowing lawns to make some extra change. No; send the kids out to mow the lawns and you charge them room and board to get it back. I知 a financial wizard!!! LOL

Hi,
My only experience with CMK was a "drop-in" engine/ compartment and cover for the Italieri M109 s.p. howitzer. WOW, this thing was amazing! All the cables, hoses and lines were molded in place. That's right, the entire engine and compartment were molded as a single casting. Brilliant! If this piece is indicative of their product line, I would knock them down with the money!!!
My $.02

One more thing,
Since you're into air-defence maybe you could try the twin 40mm turret on the LVTP5. It never reached production but their was at least a prototype built and tested. I'm aware of only two photographs and their both in the Hunnicutt "Bradley" book.
After all Marines need an umbrella from time to time!

Chuck--I am curious. How much did that engine run you? Do you have a website for CMK? I wonder if they make AVDS 1790 packs. I have the engine for the Sherman by VLS. It is okay, but no breakthrough of model engineering.
Thanks

If you ' re interested by the M19, Militar' s Kits #4, from MK Editions, has a scratchbuilding article of the M 19 worth the look...! A. Tisseire, the builder, makes a real nice job !
I prefer to wait for a injected plastic kit from, say...Academy, or AFV Club...They ' ll show of as soon as you start workin' on your pricey resin model ! It' s ALWAYS like that...!
' ve a nice day...!

I got the M109 and M998 CMK engines. LOTS of detail for a one-piece casting!!!! CMK engines retail @$10 MSR for the m109, M151 and M998 series. The M939 5t @$15 MSR. Most online hobby shops carry them for less.
HTH.

Dave, I'm glad to hear it's not the CMK kit!! The model is nice, but the moldings were uhh...pretty bad. A bit dated. Nice overall though.
Chuck, I'm not really into air-defence, per say, I just really like the "look" of the vehicle. It has always intriqued me. After seeing German versions like the Wirlybird or whatever it's name is, I started looking for U.S. versions long ago. The M19 is what I found and have since wanted a kit of it.
Skip the price thing for now, I want it, I want it, I want it.!!! :-) Besides it'll be a great experience to build an all resin kit.

DJ,
The CMK M109/ M108 engine kit cost me $7.95 US but that was when I worked at a local hobby shop, taking part of my salary in "at cost"merchandise. It should retail for around $9 or 10 bucks.
It includes two pieces, the compartment piece and the vented "hood".
Try it if it's still available, you will not be disappointed!!!
Chuck
By The Way... Didn't someone make an M107/ M110/ M578 drivers compartment? Maybe CMK?
