Gentlemen, with all this talk of weathering,.washes ,dot method, pigments, chipping, hairspray method, klear, future.salt method and such,my questions are,do you seal between each step, and with what? When you are all done do you seal again with some type of clear(gloss, satin, flat)? Thanks J.T.

Step 6 is the last time you should "seal" anything. From then on it's all about subtlety and blending. If you try to "seal" pigments, you're just adding a clear carrier to a pigment, which is commonly known as paint. You'll lose the whole effect.
1) Acrylic camo paint
2) Acrylic clear gloss
3) Decals or dry transfers
4) Acrylic clear gloss
5) Overall oil washes
6) Acrylic clear flat
7) Oil panel washes (filters)
8) Oil pin washes
9) Oil drybrushing
10) Oil staining (dot method)
11) Chipping and scuffing
12) Pigments
13) Mount to base so nobody touches the pigments

Will future / klear work for steps 2 and 4?Step 6 should be a "real" clear?

Yes, Future is the preferred material for steps 2 and 4.
Step 6 has to be a flat clear acrylic. Every company makes one.
I make my own acrylic flat clear with 2 parts Tamiya flat base to 3 parts Future.
Please be warned that Tamiya flat base cannot be used by itself.

Matt - If you use dry transfers or a stencil for your markings, then you can add satin varnish to your base coat and dispense with the Future-decals-Future routine. I know you know that, though ... my real question is do you know whether Tamiya makes a satin varnish?

Hi Bill,
No, there is no satin or flat clear in Tamiya's acrylic paint line.
If you want an excellent one, I highly recommend Vallejo Matte Varnish.
