Hello all,
I recently saw an article in a magazine about a detail set for the humvee. It contained a radio and radio shelf to add to a humvee. I think it was made by verlinden but I can't locate it on their site. I also tried greatmodels, squadron, and modelmecca all with no luck. Does anyone know where I might find one or who else may make one? (p.s. I also tried ebay - no luck).
Thanks alot.

Hey Racel,
The detail set you are refering to is from Eduard. It is a PE set (actually there are three PE sets) and are set for the Academy/Italeri kit, not the Tamiya kit. Although, I belive the interior set can be used in the Tamiya kit.
Here is the link to the sets:

The Eduard photo etch set for the Italeri M1036 TOW HMMWV contains a radio rack and older VRC-12 series radio. I did an article on the various detail sets availble for the HMMWV kits here: Improving the Italeri HMMWVs. An M1036 is the M966 TOW HMMWV with a recovery winch. This PE set could be used with all 1/35 scale HMMWV kits.
I believe that the set you mention is the Verlinden M998 Basic Hummer Update Set #0607. It is listed in my 1997 Verlinden catalog, but not in the 1999 or 2002 (only 3 catalogs I have) catalogs. The Italeri HMMWV variants (also boxed by Revell of Germany) have all seemed to omit radio racks, even when they include antennas.

Indeed Verlinden offered detail sets for Humvee kits, but it was long time ago and they are no longer available. If you mean the article in Tamiya Model Magazine International then indeed the old Verlinden set for Academy kit was used there to improve the new Tamiya model.

All,
I am refering to the "NEW" PE frets from Eduard. These were released last month (August) and I have not seen them outside of the web.
Rob, loved the article, but these might be good for an update.
Kit #35579 HUMMER Interior

Kit #35580 HUMMER Exterior

Kit #35581 HUMMER Armored Door
As mentioned, I ahve not seen these compared to the Tamiya kit. But I bet the guys at Eduard will be coming out with a set (or two) for the Tamiya rendition.

Feel free. When I wrote them, I went out and spent my own money, time and effort to review the available products. It's great that new stuff is out, we'll eagerly await your review.Rob, loved the article, but these might be good for an update.

hi,
The article was in fact in Tamiya Model Magazine. I'm sorry to hear that it's O.O.P.
I appreciate all your help. I just ordered the interior set from edouard.
Again, I REALLY appreciate the fast responses, you guys are the best!

It is a Bummer the Tamiya mag used the Verlinden set which you can't get.
I picked this up last sunday a good looking Humvee cost was pretty high also for small vehicle around $37.00 Goosh cost as much as 2 Dragon kits. But cool looking kit.
Okay so Eduard is the way to go will get the set. Now Verlinden does makes a Nato radio set is this the same thing to use for radio? (++) (++) (++)
