about 3 weeks to the official kick-off of TW2K...are we all ready. Trying to keep the excitement up, to keep the interest up.

I still plan to start off with my M115A1, but I have been thinking of doing a JoMO vehicle, with the Paladin turret on the abrams chassis...fun fun fun

Is it too late to sign up for the campaign?

I wouldn't mind letting my imagination wander a bit.....

Stuke-
Its' NEVER TOO LATE!

My T2K is stumbling along- my F-150 Gun Truck resize project is bigger than I thought. BUT it is grinding along.

I'm doing a M2A2 as a second vehicle for a diorama...but laboring over interior details! I have an old M2 Tamiya kit so it provides the basics. I'm on the brink of doing a minimal job on the interior as it is NOT the key to the story.

Progress yes...just too many other things in life keep rearing their heads!

Well... same old status with the Thunderbolt, while the Russian contingent is still at the plant, unmolested. My workers have left the building. Damn perestroika and glasnost. Not one worker left at my plant. #:-)

Seriously, it'll be a surprise if I even do some minor research or planning on any of my projekts.

Hey, where did Ivan leave the vodka?

(Oh, here it is, and the pepper...)

Alright Gennady, drink up! Time to get this "recovery" underway...

Oh, yeah, Jeff, I'm on it... I am either gonna resin cast a huge counter weight or just have the guys from the garage throw a bunch of John Deere wheel weights into a rack welded on the back of the turret. After all, this tank is being fabricated out of obsolete equipment by a bunch of ex Hoosier National Guardsmen, just to protect the town. I'm thinking a bunch of resin cast John Deere green wheel weights on the back of the turret. Now all I need to do is figure out where I am (they are) going to put the range finder blisters...

Thanks!!

I think one of the best facets of the T2K Campaign are the stories that accompany the builds... the mental image of the Guard unit welding on tractor parts to an cobbled 105mm/Sherman to protect the town is really neat!

Maybe an added part of the Campaign could be a "storyline" that goes with each entry?!?

Just thinking out loud...

Hmm, so now I have a question. Our Nat Guard Armory has an German 88 and I believe a German 75mm anti-tank gun, could these be brought back around to a usable state? Or are they de-milled like old small arms?

Just a thought,
Chris

The Keenan crew from the Hoosier National Guard ran into some minor problems... They (we) couldn't talk any local farmers out of wheel weights (for some reason they did not want to part with them?) so my engineer told me just to make a huge bustle rack out of scrap steel. The I beams and half inch boiler plate were easy to come by. The weight of the I beams should counter the weight of the new gun. That, combined with the half inch steel plate all around... Well, we are almost ready to roll. Pictures tomorrow in the gallery... Hee Hee.

I am so loving this, crappy welds on purpose.

Aw keenan, you should have gone with those John Deere counter weights...THAT would have said "redneck america" like nothing else...I really could see that going on in Iowa or South Dakota...

as for the M115A1, it was in the the TW2K game as a cross between a FSV style M113 with a LAV-25 turret. Looks interesting, easy conversion, what the heck. I also plan to do a US Marines LAV command vehicle using a combo of the ESCI parts with the Italeri chassis.

oh, and guntruck, hey, this is what it is ALL ABOUT. If it ain't fun, and the money is no good...what the hell are you doing it for? (Course I am not employed right now...) heh heh heh. Just glad we are all enjoying the ride.

Hey keenan,

I was thinking of the U shaped weights they put onthe front of the JD's to counter the weight of the implements they pull. Since tehy always seem to sell you twice as many as you would ever need, and farmers NEVER throw them away, I figured you could not only find enough for counter-weights, but heck, you could weld them all over teh hull for armor...HA!

My sentiments exactly! If it isn't fun - don't do it. If it is - go for it!
