First off, let's get one thing straight. I mean the German armored car not the animal :-). Besides the StuG IV that I was asking questions about earlier, I am planning on doing the Italeri Puma as a vehicle that fought in Normandy. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping to have answered before I go out and buy anything for this kit. I already have the Jordi Rubio barrel and I plan on buying the Elefant mudguard poles that Christophe reviewed on this site.
Is the Royal Model detail set worth the cost or would I be better off getting PE from Aber or Eduard?
Is it worth it to buy the wheels from Royal Model or The Tank Workshop (and if so which are better?) or are the kits offering sufficient?
What is a good reference book or website that has photos (are God willing some color profiles) or Pumas in Normandy?
Finally, are there any other things that I should know about this kit or this vehicle?
Thanks in advance

An article at HyperScale about the construction of a Puma.
I think I have more info at home. I will check that and later tell you if I found something.

I think the PE kits are more than sufficient. The different tire just offer you more options as German armored cars used different tires from different suppliers. I have the Italeri PUMA kit and I don't see any need to replace the tires. In fact the kit looks pretty good OOB.

the italeri puma is a good kit, but look out for sinkholes. they are usually found arond the suspension. a little filler and sanding......voila, gone. some aber photoetch and you've got a great kit.

The Italeri Puma is a pretty good kit. As pak40 said, there are alot of sink holes that need filling. I used Eduards potoetched brass. Good Luck!!! :-)

Adam,
See if you can lay your hands on a copy of the Museum Ordnance Special #24 "Schwerer Panzersapehwagen" by Tom Jentz. Interior shots of the 234's, turret shots of the 234/1, good exterior pics of 234/2 #1111, and gun mount pics of /3 and /4's

I'd try here for a very good reference for the SdKfz 234 first. If you want more, e-mail me off line and I'll send you the 5MB odd of photos and articles I have gathered over the past couple of years.
Cheers,

Just received news from Pro Art Models. They have done a two in one set of replacement tyres for the kit. I'll be posting a review later tommorrow.

Hey Linz, thanks for that link. I had his original site on my favorites, but the link was coming up with a 404 error. It is an old site, but full of info.
