Hi all!

Thought I'd show you what I've been up to lately....

First up this Alan kit I picked up a long time ago and decided to build just because.... I hate throwing kits away I guess. And of course to practice and keep my hands busy.

So, please, overllok the accuracy/detail issues, this is purely a construction/painting/weathering project.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Really good job. Just two minor points:

1 (most visible) you should weather more the decals they're too fresh comparing to the rest of the vehicle (look especially the unit insignia on the front but it's general)

2 I don't like the lower hull behind the road wheels (a kind of rust?), just paint it dark yellow (in this colour base) make some light brown was, few darker streaks and weather lightly with pigments or mud and you'll be good.

Anyway nice job!

@ Pat: Not good and not easy... I actually started and stopped this kit twice as it was too hard and time consuming to sand and shape and align parts together to fit, especially the gun tub of course... The tracks were a nightmare, many were altogether destroyed/molten! I used the best of the lot if you look carefuly at my pics youll see some that are damaged...

@Spit thanks! Re the decals, you're right, but the strange thing is they are so thick and shiny that what you see is AFTER washes, drybrush and matte Topcoat...!!! They defy dirt!!! But I'll tone them down with some enamels... As for that reddish stuff at the back behind the wheels it actually is exactly what you are saying! Dry pastels ground into solvent with a little bit of matte lacquer to hold it together slapped over the DG base (of course)... My home made mud/slush wash... It just came out a bit too red this time. Oh well, maybe this little Flakpz went tromping thru some red clay (we call it red earth) fields.... who knows???

I've been debating on whether or not to keep some of my old kits to practice painting on, and your builds are helping to support that decision. I hate throwing kits away too because they are an investment and I want to see that investment put to good use.
