I have read several books on Fallujah and was thinking of doing a large scale mock up with several of the Armed vehicles and infantry units. I thought I read that the US army had a few stryker's and Bradley with the Marine units as support. If this is true, did the strykers have the external cage armor? I have been looking at pics and it seems they didn't, or perhaps I am mistaken in the Stryker even being in Fallujah. Thanks, Kevin.

Looks like some Strykers were deployed there :

I think they would have been fitted with slat armor just like other Strykers deployed in other parts of Iraq at that time...

any chance that any actually can post pictures here of Strykers in Afg/Irq without the slat armour? I am hoping to do at least 3 kits without the slat, cause its just too expensive and frustrating, and would LOVE to have some reference photos. Cheers.

A Stryker armored vehicle operated by Soldiers with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment sits stationary at a patrol base, Rajankala, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, Nov. 28. [2009] The U.S. Army operates from combat outposts to add flexibility to operations in their sectors.

Another one :

You'll find Hi-Res versions of these pics here :

I guess so, as M1130 Command Vehicles would have more antennas

So are those blast deflectors different from what Eduard makes? They seem taller

I have the concord book on strykers, and according to that it gives a blanket statement that all strykers deployed to Iraq had slat armour. Pretty much why nearly every model of one you see without it is in afghan markings or european markings. I dont know if it true, books get things wrong, but i will lean towards golden rule of Iraq = slat armour.
I would verify this is where I read it but the pages of that book are stuck together. (unknown causes - nothing tacky).

If the military determined that slat armor was necessary in Iraq, what makes it not necessary in Afghanistan?

I am not an expert, but I would guess a much smaller RPG threat and more of an IED threat.
