Can anyone ID this weird SP gun in Libya?

Hey all,

Been seeing these things all over as wrecks on the news from Libya and have no clue what they are - the turret if in a forward position like a tank, but the gun is oviously artillery.

Don't think I'll ever build one, but they have me baffled ... Iranian?

It certainly looks like the Palmaria.. they do have a lot of Italian vehicles in Libya.

Here's another pic... I think of the same vehicle

I'd say we have identified the vehicle!

Libya seems to have plenty of them ....

There has been a thread about it.

Huh? That is a link to a build of a TAM. It has nothing to do with the VCA 155 Palmaria.

Nice scratchbuild, but not the same vehicle. Turret is too far back and there are no grills on the hull sides, different side skirts etc. Read the Wiki article closer, that model has the turret but the hull is from a TAM.

Absolutely true Jim, scratch models depict just the argentinian version with a different lower hull

But maybe that are the only modelling references about this tank available on the net

Here a more detailled article about the vc 155 SPG
http://www.military-today.com/artillery/palmaria.htm

The lower hull of vc 155 comes from a OF-40 tank (with a different engine)
