I'm kind of surprised they are scrapping some of the newer vehicles. I thought arms sales were a big thing to governments NO?

Yes, that's true. However, the history of the VEC 90 (Exploration Rover Cavalry) is already quite long. Part of the family BMR (Armored Middle Wheel), whose design dates from the seventies, but differ from those in which a turret mounted 90 mm cannon from the still older AML-90 of French origin . The recent missions of the Spanish army in Afghanistan and Lebanon, have demonstrated once again the lack of protection of such vehicles against antitank weapons, or IED, s. -

The history of the Spartan is rather curious. It was moved to southern Spain by a British tourist, where the Spanish authorities refused permission to travel on roads and public. Only being able to pass through closed circuits or to show at fairs or exhibitions.
