Could you be a bit more specific.... ? Do you want to write an article about a sniperdio you did, or do you want to make something to cover the sniper for camouflage purposes or something like that ?
A bit more info needed here, since I'm afraid that I miss the purpose of the question

If you are talking bout uniforms I can actually only speak of WW2. I believe the germans (waffen SS snipers) used some sort of Splinterpattern and white in the winter. the snipers of Das heer pressumably wear normal fieldgrey uniforms. Don`t exactly know what the Allies did. The Russians also used some Camo but still a standard army uniform. And I have seen some sort of Camonet hideout thingy (some sort of netting with strips of fabric sewn on it)
If you are talking about what the sniper would use to hide himself I pressume that could be anything usefull in his environment. From pieces of wood, bushes, cloths, Large Obstacles, corrugated metal, name it, the possibilities are huge.
here are some examples on how it is used in dio`s and pressummably also in real life
Hiding behind a tank:
in the remains of a Church
here is one using a cloth
using some debri to hide himself
another one under a cloth
You might check out some of these folders it`s from the winter Diorama campaign on Armorama some really good Sniperdio`s can be found here

Not all the pics are from my work.. so I can`t take credit on them
The first three pics are from John Neill better known as Neill here on Armorama.
The fourth pic of the sitting Sniper is from Roberto better known as Snipersoldier
Only the last Pic is from a dio I made for the Winter dio campaign. and as you can read it`s called DISTRACTION.
But thanks for the compliments

If you're going modern era - you may end up with something similar to this
The main concept for a sniper is to blend into the surrounding environment (Whatever that may be) and to be able to exit the location without being seen.
