I am currently working on a 1/35 Bronco Humber. Due to the great interior details provided, I wanted to be able to leave a few hatches open, but could not figure out how I was going to airbrush the model without getting some paint inside, and taping looked for be a very daunting job. So I experimented with attaching the hatches that would be left open in place with a small dot of white glue in each corner. Well it seemed the experiment proved viable. After painting the hatches just popped of, leaving very small areas to patch by brush. Now to attach the hatches in the open position, and I will have a great view of all the work I did on the interior.

Not sure if anyone else has tried this method, but thought I would share.

Kevin;

Just like the Real Thing! Close those doors and let the brushes rip! Certes it is intuitive!

Closing the hatches for exterior painting does support carry-over of camo schemes - a good thing, specially for those of us who do stripes and blotches. Alas, as I found one kit ago, those hatches may not always fit snugly... and paint can blow into your interior Of course, this also probably happened in some real vehicles getting field paint jobs, so...

One alternative I found to work OK is to make a sticky-side-out masking-tape cylinder that fits snugly inside the opening to mask the interior. Of course, this does leave that hatch exterior to be painted separately...

Cheers!

Rubber cement works nicely too.
