hi Folks. well I have finally finish my Australia Pacific Theatre DUKW with lifting boom. This when collected under lend lease from the Americans were left in their OD paintwork and only had a vehicle serial # put on the sides and the back (stern?).
hope you like it. Comments welcome.

Very nice. Love the rust detail you've added to it. Do you have a front view of it though? I really like that bundle of rope things (not sure of the exact term) on the corners.

Excellent work Roo
I love the job you did on the plywood cargo bed. It looks all worn and scuffed. Great work on the rust
What about this DUKW that is differnt from any of the other allied DUKW's? Other than the markings , if anything?
Again, very nice

Thanks for the comments guys here is a pic of the bow. Also Sel the aussies had a greater persentage of the DUKW's with the lifting booms then anyone else as they found them invaluable in and around the islands.

Beautiful work! I love the detailing and the weathering. Looks absolutely real! I've not seen a vehicle like that before. A half truck/half boat, right?

What can one say Cliff? This one for me is even better than your usual exceptional standards. The weathering is faultless and the attention to detail is superb... The best for me though is the boom could you do me a real favor and post a close-up of the mounting brackets? Brilliant...keep them coming....Jim

Cliff
What can I say.. This is one of the Best DUKW I have ever seen... Even most of the Original standing in Museums didn`t look as good as this one..
Your Paintjob on this vehicle is that of a pro with all the details you`ve done. As selreah already pointed out the wear on the plywood cargo bed is superb and the rutstreaks painted all around the vehicle are brilliant.. Really a jewel on the shelves there.

I like the build,Mr.Roo.
The scratching and scarring of the rear bed looks just right. Are you going to put some cargo in back? (++) (++) (++) (++) (++) (++)

I do!!
Again--- you provide pics of a vehicle just a little out of the norm. The rear shots showing the lifting boom and stern area are really well done.

thanks for the kind comments folks.
The decal serial #'s have been cut out of a set of US serial #'s but in the 6 number range given to Aussie DUKW's.
I am not going to put cargo in it as this may end up as part of my first Diorama. NOTE I said might. I have an original pic of one DUKW unloading another. May do if time permits.
Once again thanks for the kind comments

I'll have to agree with Venom, "The best DUKW I've ever seen."
Really excellent work. This one cries out to be in a dio.

Very nice Duck Cliff !!
Not much to say that has not been said already.
One question are those kit wheels or the resin ones? (++) (++)

Nice Dukw! I was led to believe that the drainage slots on the external hull weren't present on WWII Dukw's? I'm trying to find out if this is correct for a build I'm doing. Is this correct/

This led me to investergate some original WW2 pics in the Australian War Museum Data Base. Most pics are too far off to see if this is correct but I did find one that showed no drainage slots and another that showed some but not all the slots. So Teacher you may very well be correct on this but my theory is that in the tropics problems of rust would show up rather fast and maybe they did try and solve the problem by cutting some slots.

The kit wheels were used as I did not at the time have access to AM wheels.
Once again thanks for the comments guys and also to you Teacher for pointing out about the drainage slots

Roo,
Unfortunately the images don't appear to be up/working etc. Any chance checking out any possible problems with where they are kept? I'd love to check em out. Also, let me know which particular DUKW images from our website you were looking at - when you look at the real images in our collection they are MUCH bigger and clearer than the 300dpi quality we have on the net at www.awm.gov.au
Cheers.
