The process that seems to have occured when the painting of earlier panzer grey vehicles in the Heer were then painted dunkel gelb, interior areas were left grey. Now do you think on the repaint of the Leo, the inter aspects of the gun were left grey or would every nook and cranny have been painted the yellow?

I would say either a dark grey or red primer. either one would work.

HI. I would agree with Pieter on the colors. But I think one should remember just how strategically important these guns were in their day and age, so I would say, in a very uneducated way, as I have no references to it, that any part of the gun that would present a color contrast, esp. from the air, would be painted in the new color, whether it would be on the outside or the inside. So look at the model from above and see just how much of the area below the barrel assembly shows, both in the 'at rest' position and the elevated position. Could be that there's not that much showing underneath to paint the inside the new color, or not. In the end it all comes down to what you feel comfortable with.
Take care, sgirty.
