I recently got this from a customer who wanted it repainted to show some weathering. It was made by 21st Century Toys and as you can see, it's quite large. The bags, jerry cans, and spare road wheel popped right off as did the spare tracks along the infantry rails. The only real work I did was to remove a seam line from the middle of the gun tube, and along the .50 cal MG's. The tracks were removed and the entire things was sprayed with a healthy dose of OD from a large rattle can I was able to pick up locally, Once dry, I used rubbing alcohol and Mig pigments to give it the dusty look in the cracks and crevices. I used a combination of dark rust and dark mud for the look. Came out really close to what the dust in Vietnam looks like in my references. A quick and easy project for the week end. Thanks for looking.

Not too bad. It still looks pretty toy-like though with the blobs for handles on the loaders' and TC's hatches, big solid bars for the three-handle fuel can, solid hole on the spare road wheel, etc. I would have updated and detailed it a bit.

As would I if it were mine. All he asked for was a repaint and weathering. "Q"

I had a friend who had one and a I converted it into a M48A5 for him painted as one of the M48s we crewed together in the Jersey Guard. I made the barrel out of brass tube. I made an early model he didn't want to pay extra for a low profile cupola.I also couldn't find a source for M60 mgs. Its fun to improve those big kits. It looks a lot better after your work.

Thanks Thomas. The customer took delivery a couple of days ago and was thrilled with how it came out. I added "Eve of destruction" on each side of the gun tube per his request the day before delivery. Took all of 15 minutes with some Vallejo white and a brush. I weathered the text to match the rest of it and all was good. It was a lot of fun to just tweak it slightly. Thanks again for the kudos. "Q"

Hi Sonny. Sorry for the delayed reply. If you paint them, use an acrylic or they will never dry. I didn't initially and the tracks were sticky after almost an entire week. I re shot them with some Tamiya flat black and all was well. Thanks, "Q"
