Hi all.
I'm looking to make a few wildflowers to break up a diorama I'm working on. I understand a few companies make photo etch flowers, but I'd rather spend that money somewhere else.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a source for realistic but inexpensive 1/35 flowers?
Thanks for you time.
Jeff

Hey Jeff, Check out www.busch-model.com It's a model R/R company in Germany. Any good R/R shop should have acces to them and they cost around $15.00 here in the U.S. They have available in H.O. scale flowers that are more suited for 1/35th. The list includes Dandelions, daisys, black eyed suesies and roses. I have used them all but the roses. They also have a set of ferns and mushrooms that are good scale too. The pumpkins are a bit weird, they come in 3 sizes but are too out of shape to use but the vines are useable. What I did with them was to curl the leaves and twist them 90 degrees and painted them. Then drilled a small hole and glued them in. They look like tall leafy type greens growing along my river bank. You get quit a bit od the flowers for you money and I think they are well worth it.

Wrongguy, I picked up some wild flowers from my LHS. They aren't full flowers, persay, but they do give the illusion of floral areas. I think it cost me $10 for 4 bags.

I agree with Num2010. Go to a florist and for a few bucks you can get a bundle of dried flower buds that will last a lifetime. They are usually dyed a uniform color, but Num2010 did a great job painting them. Sorry Narongkorn, I should have identified you by your real name.

The wild flowers look good when painted up but, usually they are a tad bit too big for most common flowers.Key word here being usually. I use Queen Anns lace for some of mine. Dried out and snipped apart, then clued in clumps end up looking good. The only problem is if you're looking for a spicifect type. Then you have to rely on the store bought types. For wild flowers in a field you can get away with gizmollogy, and it usually looks good, but for potting and window box's I go the other way. As dio builders we are versitile and can sometimes pull off slight of eye.
