Although temporarily incapacitated I still keep looking at my half-painted Chieftain and ponder on the next move.
I was a bit shocked to notice a few days ago that there was a mark on one of the hub caps, which on closer inspection was actually a split. Over the next two days six more hub caps split, which did not make me very happy.
Drastic action was obviously required so I made an open mould and cast up a set of caps from Araldite - just the external cap, not the entire retainer. Will now have to glue the wheels on, which I should have done in the first place I guess, and stick my new caps on the wheels. I know Araldite is not a casting resin but it meets my criteria of cheap and available.
Is splitting vinyl a common problem or is this Tamiyas revenge for my bad reviews?
Regards Dave

Dave I never had such a aproblem and I think that if you return the "defective" items to Tamiya they will send you a new set (if not a whole kit...) of caps to you.
