I could have sworn someone had made proper T-55 sprockets for the T-72 RmSH track upgrade, but searches turn up dated material. Anyone recall such a thing?

Well, SP Designs has made the new sprockets and puts them in the T-55 based kits, but there is no seperate sprocket set.

There are a few things you can do, Trumpeter's T-62 Mod 72 gives you both type of sprockets but only the RMSh tracks. If you sorced a set of OMSh tracks for it you could rob the sprockets from that kit. Also Skif's T-55 kits come with the proper sprocket for the RMSh tracks and that is about the only usable thing in that kit. Also I believe Airdale Casting made a sprocket but I am not sure if it was a seperate item or part of a larger conversion like the SP Design's kits. Lastly you can try and scratch a set using Tamiya T-72 and T-55 sprockets. Alot of work but doable. Givin the low price and availability of the Skif kits that might be the easiest way to go.

Thanks, I have a Mod 72 T-62 on the way, I'll see what they look like. The scratchbuild is another option, I was worried about ruining a set of Tamiya T-72 sprockets but I have replacements in the Friul set.

WWII Productions made a set he would sell seperate, but I think he may have gone under. The sprockets in the Trumpeter T62 Model 72 are very nice and you also get the sprockets for the Omsh track too. Fruils will drop right on to the Trumpeter sprocket no problem.

Isn't FRIUL coming with proper sprockets in their T-72-Track Set? I recall it as one of the few sets with sprockets added, the question is: are they good stuff?

T55 sprocket for T72 style tracks isn't the same as T72 sprocket.

The two sprocket have just in common the "teeth" ring.

The sprockets are good for a T72. As pointed out they are not the correct ones for a T55/62.

It's not quite the same as a plain T-72 sprocket.

The Friul T-72 sprockets provided with their tracks still need the kit retainer ring and poly cap. The Friul tracks themselves are good. I just discovered the WW 2 T-72 tracks in my T-72 kit; I'll have to see if the Trumpeter T-62 sprocket will fit them too.

BTW, for anyone thinking they can plop the newish Accurate Armour Marksman turret on the T-55 hull and call 'er done are in for some work! I'll get a blog started as soon as I get the rest of my reference material

I got a couple copies of the Airedale casting Sprockets and they are very nice!

WWII Productions is still around, but does not make a set that he will sell separate. He suggests using the Miniarm version available at Hobby Easy.
