I discovered I didn't have the right combination of eye-sight, steady hand and patience to paint ACU in the method described on some threads here. Having tried the finest brush, toothpicks, pins & needles it just was not working for me.
So, I base coated the figure in dark sea-grey and allowed to dry I then painted some light sea grey onto a dimpled surface and dabed it up with a dimpled kitchen towel befoore dabbing onto the figure. The combination of dimples seemed to come close to a reasonable pattern but now that I've photographed and blown-up I'm not so sure. The camera also shows a lot of other bits I need to fix

Thanks John.
This was my first resin figure (but won't be my last now) and also my first attempt at ACU. Only my second "proper" figure effort., not counting efforts years ago that got OD, flesh & black boots

I think you've captured the ACU look pretty damn well. Good stuff.

Hey Sean
He looks great actually, I think you've got the colours just right, and the pattern looks pretty good too. Way better than my first effort anyway
This is the Legends Vehicle Crew no.1, Correct?
What paints did you use?

Thanks guys.
He is the Legends figure, not sure which number.
The paints are Humbrol enamels: Base matt sea grey 27, pattern matt light grey 147 and a very light wash of satin gull grey 129
Boots are matt desert yellow 93, a wash of burnt umber oil and dry brushed with tan 118
The velcro bands are a mix of slate grey 31 and a "railroad" buff paint I had in the box. The gaps in the velcro were done with an ordinary pencil.
Gloves and straps are black and slate grey to different degrees. Face was just humbrol flesh 61 followed by an oil wash and then some dry brushing with the flesh again. Lips are flesh with the tinest drop of red mixed and dry brushed. It's soooo hard at that scale! I don't know how anyone does 1/72 figures....or 1/350!!!!

Hi Sean, the ACU pattern looks just about right to my old eyes. The only nitpick I see is the black band on the helmet, it should be the same color as the straps on the flak vest.

Given the discussion over on the Live Resin thread I thought I'd update this thread with some pictures I took on another fgure which hopefully will give a better understanding of the process I used, explained in the first post. Not sure where the origional picture went: sorry!
