any help in general about filters and oil dot filters please. i know the basic technique of oil dot filtering, but i don't know what colours i should be using for a german dark yellow (it has very thin grey stripes, the one on the front of the panzer IV f1 box, if that changes anything?) and what colours and types of paints are used for filters.
probably gets asked a lot so sorry.
cheers stan

Really any colors will work. I typically go for tans and brown to impart dust and the like. But like I said, virtually any color will be fine because you just want a very subtle shade.

Hey Stan
If you can get a hold of issue 009 of Tamiya Model Military International (Available from their site: http://www.modelmilitary.com/ ) It has a really good introduction to using dot filters by Mig Jimenez.
The gist of the article is that lighter colours should be used closer to the panel lines and darker colours in the centre of panels. As to which colours to use, most colours are appropriate as long as they are likely to actually occur in real life. It would help to consider which panels would have which stains, for example panels near jerrycans or fuel caps would have darker black/blue/brown stains.
Hope this helps
