Trying to get a good representation of all the AVF's in Fallujah during Al-Fajr. Did the LAV's have the up armor? I have been searching and the few photo's I have do not show any blast sheilds but I am not sure if they were really at Fallujah or just a pic showing the vehicle. Any suggestions would be great.

Just take a look at the picture here :

Considering the date it was taken, I guess this one was used during Operation Phantom Fury ...

I guess you're right (about the non upgraded LAV that is ) No add-on armor and no turret shields.

I must say that pics showing the AFVs used during this operation are not that thick on the ground....

During Fallujah the LAV's did not have the armor applied to them. That 25 in particualr, looks like it was never even went through the SLEP as it has the narrow tires.

You could do 3 tone or even sand, there were a few of those running around. The single color green was used on the initial LAV A2's fresh out of the Depot. Enjoy your build!!!

There's a couple Concord books with some photos, don't have them handy but can check if intersted. There are early SLEP upgrades; gunner's sight with armored cover, Platt scissors mount and there might be a small external 'HUD' for the driver behind the driver's periscopes. Possibly the exhaust shroud. No additional armor at this time, and the wider tires were just coming into use. It's not OD either, 'NATO' green is closer, but as mentioned, only 3 color or sand.

1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (MARDIV), patrol the streets of Al Fallujah, Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on Nov. 12, 2004, in LAVs (from Defenseimagery.mil) :

The one in the foreground is a LAV-L. It's barely noticeable but the LAV-25 in the background is fitted with the SLEP exhaust shroud (I can send you the Hi-Res picture if need be )

Nothing special about it, standard three color (green/brown/black) dusty, with rain spots on it.

could very well be, water washing off some of the mud and exposing patches of true colors.
However, noticed on the turret there's a patch of lighter shade of green? Looked like some kind of sprayed symbol?

the first vehicle (not the same one frenchy linked in the later post) also seemed to be well worn, rusts dripping off and such. Would of been a nice subject to build if there are more references

Like Jim said...it is just a dirty and dusty LAV 25 with some rain drop splatter and spotting. I don't think there is a symbol sprayed on the turret....if there is it looks like a green "Gingerbread Man"!!!
