Hi guys, the question says it all -I have been noticing the Zvezda turret did have some issues and i was wondering if I could fit the Tamiya BT-7 turret on it. They look roughly the same but i am wondering about the compatibility when it comes to versions etc..
thanks for viewing

...maybe yes to be honest I don't know exactly
Anyway in my humble opinion it would be a pity using a Tamiya part for a Zvezda kit
If I were you I'd try to modify the Zvezda turret...
cheers

well Dmitry, I want merely to have my go at some panzer modelling related techniques, something light in between projects..
You are probably right Mauro, but there seems to be a very annoying thing to scratchbuild on Zvezda's turret around the gun mantlet. I merely wanted to know if I could use that expensive shortcut.
BT-7 is not that easy to integrate in a diorama, its shape is too long, T-26 is perfect in this regard.
or I would have to cut the BT-7 halfway, but I didn't find any reference showing such extensive damage.

I undrestand Jean
Why don't you get the turret from an Eastern express BT7 kit?
I've read that is more correct than the zvezda kit and it's for sure a lot less expensive than the Tamiya one..

I'm very curious to see your project

Wow - that's a lot of flash on that Eastern Express kit!!!!! I would say buy the Tamiya kit - if the turret doesn't fit then you can build the chassis/body for it and have another nice model! LOL. Stevie.

Well...maybe I'm quite mean

In my opinion over 40 € only for a turret is too much...(except for resin tools)
On average the EE kit costs about 23 €...It worth the pain to remove the flash...
Just my two cents anyway
cheers

That's very interesting Mauro tyhanks for sharing those links
Inded Steevie there seem to be a lot of Flash, but here I suppose money will
come in consideration as the Tamiya BT-7 is more than 2 times more expensive than either Eastern Express BT-7 or that Zvezda kit!
And then if I want to do this model seriously I suppose i will have to buy the Friul tracks argh.
And of course if I complete the model, 2 weeks later Tamiya will put out a T-26 aha

If you want to go serious on the zvezda T-26 you may want to consider doing a 1937 turret. Kompekt Zip makes a very nice one in resin. It will definately make an interesting piece on your shelf

I just saw this today JBA in a news article but for the life of me I can't remember which site it was on. Here's the turrets on the Soga Miniatures page http://www.soga-miniatures.com/index.php?categoryID=1288&category_slug=komplekt-zip&offset=20

Friend of mine built this latest Zvezda T-26 using Tamiya BT-7 turret.
Zvezda T-26
It was chosen as a "model of the week" in this finnish scale model site.

Excellent thank you Pat and Jeremy!
Really, it's a splendid turret. Looks like I don't follow much the news anyhow
Thanks for sharing Kimmo that's a very beautiful model -I can see some scratchbuilt elements here too.

That´s true. Some scratchbuild was needed even with Tamiya turret. If you really want to get it on the spot, that is..

Why not? Just buy the Tamiya turret sprue. Order it from Japan.

You are right on about the scratch element Kimmo!
Thanks Kevin I didn't think of this, but I suppose I will go with the '37 turret, the shape is interesting and it will save my energy for fenders, all the missing details on the hull etc

You can order individual Tamiya Sprues from Rainbow ten as long as you know the kit number and the sprue number. It is expensive way to do it though.

thanks to all anyway, I bought that Russian turret, hoping it won't come in in 3 months time.
Now I still have to buy the Zvezda kit, the Aber fenders (anyone used those?) , the Eduard PE set and the Friul tracks aha, when I think I wanted to try something without having any work to do on a model..

From what I've read the new zvezda kit fixes some errors, but is still a bit too narrow. Ah well, like anyone is going to notice that

I'm sure its cheaper to go that route then get the Complete ZiP resin turret...they make nice stuff, but a sprue from HLJ or Rainbow 10 is under 1000 Yen....even with shipping.
