Yes the IDF did use the M151A1-MUTT up till 1990 with the TOW unit.

Wrong. When the IDF received M151s they were all A2s. They had a very small number of A1s they captured from Jordan. These were 106RR jeeps not TOW jeeps. By the time the TOW was mounted on the M151 the A2s were in prodution. Even the few TOW jeeps sent to the 1st CAV in Vietnam in `71 were A2s. The fist TOW jeeps the IDF used were M38/C-J5s. There were not mounted on the A1.

I hat to say it he's right. The A1s were used for patrol and as gunner units. The TOW was only mounted on the A2s but the body is much the same as the A1s body. Here's more info on what changes were made to improve the A2s from the A1s.

An here's an Israeli link with more info and photos: http://www.jeepolog.com/forums/content.php?1378 You may need a hebrew translation tool to read that page.

Hi guys, many thanks for the very usefull info, Ive just read the Wiki page and noticed the A1mounted the recoiless rifle,I have the skybow M38 with recoiless rifle I was going to use the Accurate Armour conversion to make it a IDF vehicle Tony says the M38 mounted the Tow maybe I could mount my tow on the M38 and put the recoiless rifle on the A1 might need some pics to see what mounts they used.
