Hi Guys
I was thinking of giving some of the Terstors Model Master Enamels a go.
Can anyone confirm what they recomend to use as a thinner with their enamels. I assume its normal Mineral spirits but I did read that Laquer thinners was recomended.
Thanks for any help on this.

Paul;
I use these Testor's M-M enamels on a regular basis - I thin with the cheapest basic paint thinners - distilled mineral spirits - from the discount houses. Works right for me out of my good (Iwata HPCS and Badger Patriot) air brushes, as well as for brush and other application.
Lacquer thinner, which may include acetone and some other solvents, may be more aromatic and toxic, but probably works fine.

I've been spraying MM for some time now. Regular paint thinner works great.

Mineral Spirits or enamel thinner for the MM color line.
Use laquer thinner for their clear coats (preferably their version).
I use only MM and artist tube oils to paint. If you are good with future in between coats, there is no reason you cannot use only enamels. I know a lot of people use vallejo and humbrol. They say the color is rich. I might try it out one day, but for now MM is good.

I've been using MM enamels almost all of my modelling years. The best thinner I've found, that I just love, is the thinner from hawkeye hobbies.

all the other thinners mentioned work well - I just happen to really like the one I mentioned.

I use mostly model master enamels and I've tried many different thinners and I've got my best results from using the model master enamel thinner.. and I agree $7 for a small can is pretty expensive...
if you also use it to clean your airbrush... thats just throwing $$ away... I use the MM thinner for thinning paints and the cheap thinners from wal-mart to clean my airbrush..
and you will be surprised at how long that MM thinner will last..
just my 2 cents....

Regular mineral spirits always used to work for me back when I used to shoot enamel paint.

Thanks for the replies guys
I was asking as at the moment I am using Humbrol and Revell Enamels and although I get perfect results using either Humbrol or HMG thinners I am getting hit or miss results when using Mineral Spirits.
The paint always thins and sprays fine and although it dries I find that sometimes it doesn’t harden and can be easily rubbed off.
I never get this problem using proper enamel thinners
I notice that Humbrol enamel thinners contains Naphtha what does Mineral (White) spirits contain.
Also what the opinion on using Lacquer (Cellulose) thinners with Enamels
Thanks
