Hi everybody,

I found 4 differend pictures of these Pathfinders Platoon WMIK Land Rovers and they all show the vehicles in sort of pinkish colour... a way different to the standard modern Brit. desert.

Do you think this is just an optical illusion or is it possible some vehicles were painted differently.

Thanks a lot for any reply.

Jiri

Jiri, Anything is possible! I have seen a series of pictures (one happens to be in the 2011 Airfix catalog for kit A50123 British Forces-Patrol and Support Group) that show RAF Regiment WMIKs that I would swear are a light desert pink. Check out www.defenceimagedatabase.mod.uk, picture 45142942 (and others in the series) and see what you think. It's really hard to tell sometimes;about the only way to know for sure is to get get input from vets that were there. I would like to know more about this as well! Regards!

Hay guys, I have seen a few RAF 110 wolfs painted in the pinkish shade. I think it is mostly RAF vehicles that are painted that color?? RAF vehicles are also better painted than the army's, as the RAF have painting specialists to paint aircraft. I have a pic some were of a sand painted and pink 110 next to each other I will have look for it for it for you when I get time.

There is a picture on p.100 in Pat Ware's book Military Land Rovers (Ian Allan publishing) that shows what is referred to as a "rapid deployment vehicle" (looks like a WMIK to me) in a light, pinkish colour in the foreground and what appears to be a "Pulse" ambulance in the background that is light stone--it is very easy to see the difference between the two. Wish I could reproduce it on computer for all to see, but do not have equipment or knowledge to do so. It is a very good paint job, not hurried with overspray on tyres! It makes sense the RAF would have these vehicles since they have more access to pink paint that they also use on aircraft.
