I resently picked up Broncos's M1114, this kit closely represents what my Platoon had in Iraq. A couple of small issues I found with the kit. The kits has the Blue force tracker unit, but no antenna. (see attachted photo)
As I stated in an earlier post the rear winch is absent from the kit. My Platoon had some of the first M1114's so equipment like the spare tire mount was not on our M1114's. We had our own mounts made up and bolted them to the cargo door. We also took the air clearer extention off for better T/C vision, and removed the blackout light . A IR light was added for better NVG driving. The rear crew seat backs were removed for better comfort with body armor on.
The gunners removed the "gunners platform" most felt they where too exposed when standing with the platform installed.
Oh it does rain in Iraq, all at once..lol

Legend does an upgarde for the kit to make up for its deficiencies.
I know what you mean about those seat cushions. We took them off of the front seats as well.

What unit were you in? I love these 1114's, I definitely want to build a vehicle like one of the ones in these pictures, and would like to know what unit I'm modeling!
When were you attached to that platoon? I'm not sure when the ECM antennas were first put on Humvees, but I notice yall's vehicles don't have them?

By my guess, he was over in Iraq in the 2004-2005 timeframe. Clues are: doors, weapon station armor, and crew uniforms or look a the date the picture was taken... During that time, not all vehicles were equipped with the CREW systems, so those vehicles equipped with CREW/"ECM" do have antennas, just not what you are accustomed to seeing... Look at the bottom picture and you will see an short antenna, looks like a piece of PVC pipe, mounted on the ”hatchback” of the closest (the one with the Roman numeral V) M1114. That is the antenna… The DUKE system and its 105D antenna was not fielded until mid/late 2006.

I was in Iraq 2004 - 2005, D Company 101 Cav (NY National Guard) attached to the 256 BCT. My Platoon had 2 M1114s with the Warlock Jammer system.

Dammit... My guess was the 69th Infantry, not 101st Cav. Supporting 256 BDE, I bet you can tell some stories...
I was over in 2005-2006 as part of TF Liberty. I met a bunch of 101st Cav guys that "migrated" to the 42ID Staff. The CG's aide, a Captain with the NYPD, especially made me laugh whenever I saw him. Good guys!!

We were attached to the 69th, the short history of it was... The 69th was called up to be a part of the 256 BCT Louisiana National Guard. The 1/101 Cav was a Armor BN Head Quarted out Staten Island NY. The 4 Companies of the 101 supplied 19Ks, scouts, mortors and HQ troops to form an Infantry Company. I was an E-7 with 3rd Platoon D Company 101 Cav.

Rick/TNKER 101,
Understand what happened to round out the ARNG... We had TF 1-103(AR) from the PAARNG/28th Division attached to us. They had everything but tanks in their organization... Infantry from Philly, an engineer company and a dismounted tankers, well, they did a have a couple of "loaner" tanks from the 81st ERB that never made it off of FOB Summerall in Bayji. We ended up sending a mech team up to them and sent their A/1-110 IN to TF 2-7 in Tikrit. Both units benefited from their crossattachments.
Frenchy,
Yup, that is the antenna for the WARLOCK Red, Green and Red/Green combo system. The DUKE replaced all of the WARLOCK 'colored" CREW Systems. Those antennas help to establish the dates of HWMMV pictures. That picture looks to be from 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry AKA the Rakkasans in lovely downtown Samarra Iraq

I would suggest carving a master out of resin or basswood, and heat forming them. I wrote a little tip for FSM about 13 years ago on using a canning jar for a heat forming jig. It's pretty self explanatory once you see one.
